Mike and Crystal Powell
Ever since I was a little girl, I've been dreaming about ideas for my wedding. I knew that I wanted a nice, tall, traditional wedding cake, but I didn't know the man I'd end up falling in love with would be lactose in-tolerant. My husband Mike cannot eat anything made with milk or else he gets EXTREMELY sick, so we opted for a decorative fruit tart for the two of us to share at our table but got a small cake for the rest of our guests. The tradition of the cutting of the cake is too important to not include. I liked doing the separate dessert because it was a special thing that only the two of us shared. This way, the guests had their dessert, and my husband didn't have to miss out on having one either! Here is a picture of us cutting our cake.
Victor and Leslie Alvarez
I met Victor when I was studying-abroud in Argentina. It wasn't long until we both knew we had a unique bond. We were in love, but no one approved. On the night before I was to move back to the states, he proposed to me and promised to write me everyday and be able to marry me one day. We knew it would be hard especially when I would have to tell my parents, surely they didn't approve. That didn't stop us though, my best friends and I saved up so we could travel in the summertime back to Argentina where we would have a private ceremony. This photo is from our 5th year anniversary for which we renewed our vows in a ceremony back in the States. Its been an amazing 5 years. Our vows renewal has been like the wedding we never had and I highly recommend such a ceremony to people who didn't have the ideal wedding ceremony the first go-around. Hope this helps.
Justin and Emily Frank
Justin and I met in high school and were the perfect high school sweethearts. He played for the football team and I was a cheerleader. That is how we met. We have been inseperable ever since. We even went to college together and continued our hobbies as a cheerleader and football player. That sometimes got us in trouble, we fought a lot because we saw each other too much and did not have personal space. That is when we decided to get married, we knew we had to move on to newer and exciting things. We got married a few months before college graduation so it was a little hectic. Our wedding was perfect and thankfully had amazing girlfriends who helped me out with everything. Always take someone with you when trying out new things for the wedding preparations. I would not change anything, everything happens for a reason and Justin and I are happier than ever. I am actually pregnant with a six month old babygirl, Jessica. We are so excited!
Jason and Gabby Clemente
The story about how Jason and I met is always my favorite part of a conversation. I was 19 years old when we met and I worked as a waitress at his favorite restaurant. There was a guy who would always go on Wednesdays and have a few beers at the bar. We would always make eye-contact and have casual conversations. Everyone said he liked me but I never believed it, he seemed just like any other girl, hitting on a girl. One day he asked to sit in my section rather than his usual spot, the bar. I was so surprised to see him there, by himself, waiting to be served by me. That night I got off work and stayed with him talking for hours, that is when I knew he was the one. We dated for six years and got married after I graduated from college. Every year we go to that same restaurant for our anniversary. We ask to sit at that same table where one night we fell in love. If I give any advice ladies, and I don't mean to use a cliche, but, never judge a book by its cover, you might surprise yourself by what is inside.
Joe and Sara Morrison
My husband and I have been knowing each other since we were five years old. We of course grew apart and did not start seeing each until we were in college. he more we hung out, the more we enjoyed being around each other. It was obvious that we had fallen in love. Joe had a bright red sports car that he worked all through high school to be able to buy, but when I became pregnant right before our graduating year, he sold it in order to be able to afford things for our little boy. On our wedding day, we were married in the area between the two houses we grew up in. We snuck out during the reception where I blindfolded him and led him to my parent's driveway. When he took off his blindfold he was ecstatic to see an exact replica of the car he sold in order to make a better life for us. It was my way of thanking him for always putting our family first and expressing my gratitude to him for the life that we have today. I love my husband and giving him a gift like that on our wedding day added to the emotion of the atmosphere.
