The flavor, the size, the colors...

Wedding cake picturePicking your wedding cake might be one of the hardest choices when planning your day. We are not going to lie, it is expensive. You want to have a cake everyone will remember. There are so many kinds - that is where it gets tricky. You can do modern, vintage, round, tall, square, in different shapes, etc. Anything like fondant decorations is going to cost you. The higher the cake, the higher the price. Any cake with nuts or in form of a cheesecake is going to add on to the price. Think of flowers for decorations - they are cheap! This should be one of the first things you get done especially if your wedding date is at a popular wedding season because that means bakers will book up quickly. Set up appointments to have cake testing, most are free but some may charge. You need to be patient. Go with someone that likes sweets. Think of having different flavors, you want to give your guests options; not everyone is the same. Some of the most popular flavors are red velvet, vanilla/chocolate with center filling, and buttercream.

The Tux

Groom pictureWe all know men look stunning in tuxedos and it is an excellent and classy look for them. Styling a tux can be done without going too overboard. You definitely want to keep the color range close to black or grey. If you choose a vest, keep it simple, no patterns because you also get to wear accessories like a long tie or bow tie (both are just fine) and then you also have a handkerchief or a flower to wear in your front pocket. Tuxs also depend on your body type you can choose to have it lose or tight. The good thing is that you can wear your outfit over and over again; the bride does not.

The DJ

Dj and ladiesThings are not like how they used to be, Adam Sandler is no longer accepted as a wedding singer in a reception, people want a DJ. You want to make sure you meet with the DJ so you may let him know what kind of music you will definitely want and the type that you despise. You should base this on your music taste and of the guests. Slow songs are a must so if you want to dance an specific song with the bride/groom, with the parents, etc. let the DJ know beforehand so he may be prepared. You also want upbeat modern songs and do not forget to include the Cha Cha slide.

The Invitations

Wedding invitation"You are cordially invited to..." If you are inviting a hundred guests, order about a hundred and twenty. You might end up inviting more people at the end and it might be too late to order. Save up by writing them yourself and get help. We all have friends/family relatives with pretty handwritting. Stores like Michael's have everything from paper, markers, pretty bow ties. Keep it cheap by dropping them yourself to those who live nearby and the rest have them deliver with enough time.
